I’m sitting outside the dealer waiting for my car to be tuned. This is the first time I have been out in a while, and the first time I have been a pedestrian in who knows how long.
It’s fuckin weird, can’t wait to get back lol. On a positive note, I’m sipping on my first five shot americano in months.
They’re just taking my car in now. It’s Kidna rainy and this dealer, like most is positioned on and abysmal stretch of highway. I’m going to go kick a few tires if the rain lets off a little.
Forgot headphones, huge mistake.

Remind me, does this tune preserve the warranty by arrangement with VW (or replace it with an aftermarket one)?

It’s a separate warranty in addition to the factory warranty . They’ll only put in on cars that were purchased new and only during the original factory warranty period. I’m guessing because more and more dealers are offering the tunes. So if something does happen apr and the dealer can work it out while they both still have “interest” in whatever car.
I chose this particular spot because they have been a mod friendly dealer for a long time. Thought the whole stasis debacle etc...

Yeah this one in particular has for a loooong time. But more and more are staring to. The one by my house does it too. They just can’t have my money.

I’m expecting to feel nearly as quick or as quick as my mother’s Stock GTI, just less nimble. Others have touted better mileage!? No way this happens initially, haha but we’ll see. I plan to reset all the eco stuff before I pull out of the lot.

I misread that comment about the C5 and suddenly got distracted about the idea that we should be able to control all our brakes independently... w hy have one brake pedal when you can have four!

Better mileage could be a thing if the original map is for example optimized for emission and/or low octane fuel while the new map takes advantage of premium fuel, pushing more timing and adding some torque down low so you wont need to drop a gear or ask for more boost to do the same acceleration.
In the real world, as you gain a great deal of power you might also end up driving faster negating possible gains ; on my A3 i did about the same mileage (i do mainly city and small windy roads driving) before and after the remap (150hp/210nm => ~195hp/300nm) but its definitely not the same car anymore.
